A Series is Coming, A Series is Coming!!

Newspaper Announcement

{Okay, the title was a pretty cheesy spin on the infamous Paul Revere warning, but I couldn't help myself... no thanks to the newspaper graphic I made to go along with this post...}

Before I talk about this new series, I'd like to apologize for my absence on the blog lately.  I haven't been avoiding it out of laziness, I promise.  The thing is, I've been fighting some sinus junk that resulted in some serious ear pain.  I went to the doctor on Sunday and now have some medication to help me get rid of it once-and-for-all... Lord willing.  So, if I'm feeling any better tomorrow, I'll post.  If not, I probably won't.  Either way, I appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

*************************************

Have you ever said something to the effect of: "I'd love to learn how to __________" or "I would like to __________"?  What about all those things you've pinned on Pinterest: tried may of them?  {Please tell me I'm not the only one who pins a million things, but tries very - very - few of them.}  How about this one: ever set a goal only to procrastinate and never see it through?

If I were honest, I'd have to answer "yes" to all three of those questions.  There are things I'd love to learn how to do, copy from Pinterest, or achieve.  Procrastination isn't always to blame.  After all, when you're a full-time mother and homemaker, as well as part-time blogger/writer {not to mention wife, church attender, and so much more}, the number of allotted hours in a day don't exactly leave room for much else.

As true as that may be, I want to give some of these things on my "want-to-do list" a better chance at becoming reality.  So...

{drum roll, please}

I'm planning a new series!!!

Okay, so it's not exactly groundbreaking news.  {Especially because I pretty much revealed it in the title...}  I get that.  But, the exciting part isn't just the fact that it's a new series because, let's face it, I've attempted a long-term series before and dropped it like a hot potato, without so much as a goodbye post.

This time, though, it's going to be different!  I'm determined.

No really... You can stop laughing now...

Seriously, though, this new series {that I have yet to name... hint, hint} is about challenging myself to tackle those things that I've been meaning to do, but haven't exactly had a fire lit under my fanny to actually finish.

What kind of things?
  • Learning New Things - there are plenty of homemaking-related things that I don't know how to do {or, at least, don't know how to do well}.
  • Decorating and Organizing Projects - two of my favorite hobbies that often get neglected due to excuses lack of funds and time.  But, it's about time I rolled up my sleeves and showed my home some TLC.
  • Getting Healthy - one of my biggest goals in this area has been to adopt a more real/whole foods diet. What better way to get the ball rolling than to complete some health-related challenges.
  • Natural/Simple Living - planting a garden, using natural cleaners, making my own beauty products: all things I've wanted to try, just haven't done it yet.
  • Crafts/Projects/Fun Stuff - there are tons of really cute things to make and do {for just myself or for Little Man}, but I just haven't made the time to do them.
Really, anything that I've been wanting to do {preferably related to making home and/or benefiting my family} is game.

Here's the fun part:

Because I imagine that most of you have "want-to-do lists", too, I figure this series would be a great reason for Domestic Bliss Diaries to start it's own link up!  Every week, I'll post about what I challenged myself to do and document how it turned out {for better or for worse}.  Then, I'll provide a way for you to link up your own projects.

And, in case you were wondering: No, you don't have to accomplish the same challenge that I did.  You can link up a post on anything that you've challenged yourself to learn/do/be.

What do you think?

If you're on board, leave a comment below with the phrase "Let's do this!"  And, if you think of a fun name for this new series/link up, please leave your suggestion below, as well.

{Side Note: I realize that the holidays are coming up and everyone is going to be crazy busy - with some bloggers even taking extended breaks to focus on family - but, I am planning to keep on trucking with this series, Lord willing.  I'll just keep the challenges holiday-focused, if necessary.}

God Bless,
