Friday Favorites - 8.3.2012

{Heart} Fridays
Because I've skipped a full two weeks of Friday Favorites posts and because I thought I'd give you a break from all my seriousness, I thought I'd have a little fun today by putting together a favorites post.  What do you say?

In traditional Friday Favorites fashion, allow me to give you a run-down of what's been going on around here this past week: I've just finished my blogging confessions {part one and part two} where I share some things that have tripped me up as a blogger.  These posts were really spurred on by the fact that I am thinking a lot about my life lately and asking myself hard questions {see this post for the reason why}.  So, you see how there's been a lot of seriously heavy stuff being talked about around here?  But, don't worry.  If the words "serious" and "heavy" make you want to click away, you can always check out my Back-to-School Checklist, which includes tips for the parents of public/private school kids, as well as those being educated at home.

Now that you're brought up to speed, we can now jump right into the favorites for this week:

**NOTE: You'll see this {VIA} below every photo.  Clicking it will take you to the original source.  Please do not pin anything from this post from my blog.  Click through to the original source before you pin.  Thank you!**

WEAR IT

She added the lace to make it look like an Anthropologie dress!
{VIA}

Sarah, from the gOOd life, found herself swooning over a dress from Anthropologie.  I'm sure a lot of us have been in her shoes.  Have we not?  I mean, their dresses are amazing!  Anyways, back to Sarah...  Due to a series of unfortunate {fortunate?} events, she never purchased that dress from Anthro.  Instead, she found a very similar, but plain version for much, much cheaper and added the lace herself!  And, Sarah, want to know something?  I like your version MUCH better!

DO IT

Get your "To Do" List completely DONE today with this creative and easy idea that will motivate everyone! www.thedatingdivas.com #dateideas #date #chores
{VIA}

The Dating Divas have been giving couples creative date night ideas for a while now.  But, they've taken their genius to a whole new level by creating a way to make a date out of your to-do list.  Seriously!  I'm not going to spill all the details here, though.  You'll have to click over to see how they did it.  All I know is, this date is coming to our house VERY soon!  {I want to also mention that this could also work for a family fun day, too}.

MAKE IT

diy activity wallet - fill an old wallet with odds and ends to keep your little ones entertained in restaurants, planes, etc.! make your child their own custom id card using our free printable! | hellobee
{VIA}

Now, for those of you with small children who like to have something to play with while you both have to wait {restaurant, doctor's office}, this is an awesome idea!  Some of you probably have kiddos that, in all honestly, would rather play with your wallet {or phone, or anything else that is yours}.  By filling an old {or thrifted} wallet with all kinds of kid-friendly goodies {and rotating the goods from time to time}, you'll have an easy, portable bag wallet of tricks that'll keep your kid entertained.

GIVE IT

WONDERFUL ideas. I need to remember these when I've got friends with newborns/after surgeries etc. Really nice ways to help out without making someone think of what you can do to help!! Much better than saying "Let me know if I can help." No one wants to ask for help!!
{VIA}

You just had a baby and your dear friend says, "Let me know if there is anything I can do to help".  You nod, appreciating her offer.  But, what do you say?  Did she really mean it?  Of course, if this is a dear friend, it is likely she meant what she said.  Not only that, she probably hopes that you'll call needing help.  After all, we all like to be needed, right?  But this general statement will often confuse those people that we genuinely want to assist.  So, what's a well-meaning friend to do?  Check out this post.  It's an awesome list of ways you can be a blessing to those friends or family members who have just welcomed their own little blessing into their home.

ORGANIZE IT

car kit to keep these things close at hand without cluttering up a purse.
{VIA}

Some of you may be gearing up for the first day of school, so you'll need a car kit to get you through pick-up line.  Others of you may have several weeks left before the academic year begins, so you'll also need a car kit to get you through those last minute road trips and school shopping excursions.  For those of you who have no affiliation with schools whatsoever {you homeschool, your kids are grown...}, you could use a car kit, too!  Trust me.  No matter who you are, having something like this in your car will guarantee that you have some of your most important things handy.  {Of course, this doesn't include those things you might want to keep in your trunk; like a flashlight, jumper cables, first aid kit, etc.}

DECORATE IT

Playful patterns make this small living room an inviting space. More smart ideas for small spaces: http://www.bhg.com/decorating/small-spaces/strategies/smart-decorating-ideas-for-small-spaces/#page=14
{VIA}

The first thing that caught my eye about this space was that it was colorful and eclectic, but not in an overwhelming kind of way.  The colors, patterns, and textures work well together, creating this wonderfully laid-back vibe that I believe every living room should have.  Can't you just see yourself curled up on that sofa with a good book?  I can definitely see myself in this room.

I hope you had as much fun reading this post as I had putting it together.  If you like what you see and you want to keep track of my favorites, follow me on Pinterest.  I've got boards for everything from recipes to kid stuff to photography, so you're sure to find at least one board that interests you.

With that, I wish you all a Happy Friday and a hope your weekend is wonderful!  See you back here on Monday.

Blessings,
