1 Skirt; 4 Ways

1 Skirt, 4 Ways

Here's the deal: fall is right around the corner and kids are going back to school {either in classrooms or at the kitchen table}.  This time of year is what I like to call "The Second 'New Year'".  In other words, it's a time filled with a renewed sense of hope and excitement about the future.  With every blank notebook is an invitation to fill it with your knowledge and thoughts.  Every new "back to school" outfit is an opportunity to express who you are today.

This renewed sense of possibility and expression isn't just for kids, though.  It's for moms, too.  So, if you feel like your wardrobe needs revitalizing, I want to invite you to take a look in your closet and see what kind of changes need to be made.  Use the steps outlined in this post to get your started.  Then, if you're a bit "fashion-challenged" like I am, use this post to help you abide by the fool-proof "fashion formula" that I've discovered, thanks to my "Virtual Closet" on Pinterest.

Here's my criteria for a workable wardrobe: all pieces need to fit my lifestyle {stay-at-home mom} - a.k.a. they don't need to be too formal or too fussy.  Basically, they need to be comfortable, cute, and above all else, modest.  With this criteria in mind, I've had an item on my wardrobe wish list for quite some time and have yet to purchase it: the mid-length denim skirt.

Why this item?  Well, for starters, I don't wear shorts.  Period.  Can't stand them.  So, in the summer months, when it's hot outside, I want something that will keep me cool, yet still provide the coverage I need.  And, because this piece is so versatile, it would easily carry me into the fall and winter months as well, with the addition of extra layers.

So, what did I whip up?  May I present to you: four different ways to wear the mid-length denim skirt this fall...

One thing I didn't include was tights.  They come in so many colors and are simply a modest girl's best friend.  Although, here in the south, I probably won't need them until late October, early November... maybe.

Oh, yeah... if you're needing some extra motivation to actually get dressed every morning {because we homemakers can struggle with that sometimes}, may I recommend Sarah Mae's eBook: Frumps to Pumps - Your One Month Motivotional to Getting Dressed and Staying That Way!  She has a great way of gently nudging you to change without heaping a bunch of "mom guilt" on you if things don't change as quickly as you'd like for them to.  {This is an affiliate link, but I share because I care.  I'm telling you... all of Sarah Mae's eBooks ROCK!}

When it comes to a modest wardrobe,
what item can you not live without?

Blessings,
