Pinterest Interest: Mom's Day 2012

Mother's Day is THIS Sunday!  Are you prepared?
If not, I've rounded up a couple of easy ideas that are sure to be a hit.

FOR THE MOM WHO LOVES TO COOK...

Cilantro, Parsley & Chives

This is going to sound cheesy but, an herb garden truly is a gift that keeps on giving.

FOR THE MOM WHO LOVES TO SEW...

Create a mason jar pin cushion, as seen on Stolen Moments.  Adding some small sewing supplies {thread, scissors, needles, measuring tape, etc.} inside immediately elevates this gift to "sewing kit" status.

FOR THE MOM WHO LOVES BEAUTY PRODUCTS...

I realize it can be tempting to swing by your local Bath and Body Works to pick up some deliciously scented beauty products and, if you're pressed for time, they offer some great products.  BUT, if you want to earn some brownie points and impress your mother, consider creating your own homemade beauty products:

FOR THE COCOA/COFFEE LOVING MOM...

Purchase a white {or your mom's favorite color} mug and go to town personalizing it for her.  You could monogram it, like the ones seen above from Design Mom.  Use chalkboard paint and write a personal message, like these from Wit and Whistle.  You could also add some hot red lips... it's totally up to you!

However you decide to decorate the mug, don't forget to add some coffee or hot cocoa.  Really, this is more than a mug, it's the gift of relaxation!

WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS...

Okay, I get that gift baskets can seem a bit old-fashioned... outdated... whatever you want to call it.  But, I believe there is a HUGE difference in a gift basket that was assembled at a gift shop and simply purchased versus one that you put together yourself.  The latter is much more thoughtful, especially if you are choosing a theme based on what your mom loves:

For the mom who loves to cook, assemble a fun basket like a "Pizza Kit" {as shown above from Darling Doodles - a great blog with a TON of gift ideas!}.

For the mom who loves a good "chick-flick", assemble a basket with a fun movie, popcorn, and other favorite snacks.

For the mom who is busy being a humble servant to everyone around her {which is most moms}, assemble a basket to encourage her to pamper herself for once: fuzzy socks, lotion, a scented candle, etc.  You could also add the DIY mug with coffee/cocoa.

You get the idea... when you choose a theme that is unique to your mother, a gift basket is elevated from "ho-hum" and "generic" to personal and sentimental.

Hope you found at least one idea you can use this Mother's Day.  If you've already purchase a gift for your mother, you can tuck these ideas in your back pocket for birthdays, Christmas, or any other gift-worthy celebration.  AND, I should note, they are appropriate for any woman in your life: friend, sister, mentor, teacher, etc.

Blessings,
