Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Friday night we had dinner at my in-laws house and it was absolutely delicious: steak, baked potato, grilled asparagus, corn casserole, sauteed mushroom, and Texas toast! My son spent the night with his "Nanny and Pop-pop", so my husband and I watched a movie. {We wanted to rent one but didn't find anything decent so we ended up buying "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of The Dawn Treader". VERY GOOD MOVIE!} Saturday, we slept super late {which was so nice}, and then we spent the rest of the day with my mother-in-love {a.k.a. Nanny}: sushi for lunch {yum!}, a trip to Wal-mart {cause, really, what Saturday is complete without one? Not that I enjoy it...}, and then back to her house for another delicious meal: BBQ pork chops, more grilled asparagus {we couldn't get enough!}, hashbrown casserole, and deviled eggs {I think that was all}. Sunday, we went to church both in the morning and afternoon; good day with good friends, worshiping a good God.
I also spent a lot of time this weekend thinking and praying. About you. About this blog. About a way to bring in a little income to relieve a little bit of the financial burden for my husband. I'm still thinking and praying about everything, but I just wanted you to know so that you can pray with me.
FOR YOU
I pray that God would make Himself real to you. That you would feel His presence and rely on Him for every single thing in your life. That you would filter every decision you make through the Word of God. And, finally, that you would do everything to the glory of the One who made you and gave Himself for you!
FOR THIS BLOG
I pray that God would use it for His glory. That I would be able to thoroughly encourage and equip each of you in your role as homemaker. That I won't get discouraged by other "big name" bloggers who seem to already have it figured out. That I would look at this blog as my ministry and treat it as such.
FOR AN INCOME OPPORTUNITY
I pray that God would show me what it is I can do. I've tried a couple of direct sales companies and have just come to the conclusion that they are not my thing. {I like public speaking if I'm teaching something; not so much selling stuff}. I'm not very craftsy {yet - I want to be!}, so selling anything on Etsy is currently out of the question. What I can do is organize and mentor people, so I may take up some sort of "organizing life coach" work. Maybe. If that's even something people would be interested in. {Any and all suggestions are welcome!}

Also, just to give you a heads up:
We will be continuing the "Intentional Heart, Intentional Home" series. I will also be working to move some posts over from my old blog, so it is likely that I will be posting a couple times a day for the next week or so. For those of you who've read the "old stuff", please bear with me. For those that are new around here, enjoy the onslaught of new-to-you content! ;)
I would be amiss if I ended this post without asking you what you'd like to get out of this blog. Is there something you've been searching for {encouragement, how-to's, answers to questions}, but just can't seem to find anywhere? Is there any way that I can better encourage and equip you in your role as a homemaker? If you'd rather not leave a comment, you can always email me at domesticblissdiaries {at} gmail {dot} com.

Thank you for stopping by today. Even if you don't leave a comment, please know that I do appreciate the time you take to read, in the midst of your busy schedule. I'm praying for each and everyone one of you, whether I know you by name or not.

Good luck to you! I've been wanting the same things for a while. I would like to monetize my blog eventually, but only with opportunities that I believe to be honoring and glorifying to God along with the rest of my blog, so I'm waiting for Him to bring me the right opportunity.
ReplyDeleteAlso, there are several online/print magazines that pay for articles. Here is a website that lists some of them: http://www.christwriters.info/index/category/Christian%20Print%20Magazine
Good luck to you! I had to sign in with wordpress, but my blog is actually htt://www.servingjoyfully.com
I feel the same way about monetizing my blog: only if the opportunities fit my faith and my lifestyle. Thanks for sharing that website. I'm definitely going to have to look into that. I've thought about writing for other websites but didn't really know where to start. So, thank you!
DeleteBest of luck to you as well. ;)
Wishing you only the very best! I would like to come up with a way to supplement my husband's income, but that would allow me to continue to be home for our 15 year old daughter. Once they become teenagers, I believe they need even more direction. I'm a new follower of yours! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. Definitely needs to be something I can do from home while still being able to be a mommy. I admire your desire to keep your teenage daughter close. I think often times parents of teens give too much freedom too soon, when they really need guidance more than ever!
DeleteThanks for following! ;)
