In addition to writing more serious posts {like encouraging weary moms and suggesting a different type of spring cleaning}, I also want to write more practical posts that include tips and tricks to make your job as wife, mother, and homemaker just a tad easier {like sharing a big list of free home management binder printables and how to create a house cleaning game plan}. So, today, I thought I'd share some resources I found {via Pinterest} that can help us to be diligent in teaching the word of God to our children {Deuteronomy 6:7}.
{NOTE: Some of these ideas are used primarily by member of The Church of Latter Day Saints. I am not a Mormon - I'm actually Baptist - so obviously I do not believe the same things that they believe. However, I think these ideas are easily adaptable to different faiths and denominations.}

#1 - Scripture Journal
Obviously, at three years of age, my son can't quite do this yet but I think it would work wonderful for kids old enough to draw and write. Basically the idea is that you document your study of scripture with notes, pictures, and diagrams. For children, it serves as a way to go back and review what they have learned. But, you could also start your own scripture journal to pass down to your children or grandchildren... or, again, to go back and review at a later date. This is a preschool curriculum created by the amazing Laura from Heavenly Homemakers. Each lesson focus on a letter of the alphabet, as well as a Bible verse. It also includes a list of service project ideas and activities to supplement the letter. I will be honest here by telling you that I have not used this curriculum personally but I have heard it spoken highly of by several blogger that I respect. It is on my wishlist and hope to purchase it very soon. To learn more about {or purchase} Learn Your Letters, Learn To Serve, click HERE. {This is not an affiliate link... I just think the concept of this curriculum is awesome!}

#3 - Family Devotions + Worship
The idea of Family Home Evenings is one practiced by Mormons. However, this is another idea that I believe can be easily adapted to other religions/denominations as well. I simply call it "Family Worship Nights" or "Family Devotions", interchangeably, in my house. The idea is that once a week {or more often... the more often, the better, really} your family comes together to sing, pray, read scripture, and talk about your faith together. Creating a board like this one allows you to assign a different task to each person so that everyone can get involved and feel like a part of the "ritual" - for lack of a better word... Fore more about this particular board, click HERE.

As a Christian I believe that there is no better tool for training my child than the Bible. But how often does your child disobey/act out in anger/lie/etc etc etc... and you can't remember where a corresponding verse is? Enter: the Child Training Bible!! It's really just a regular Bible that has been "tweaked" by adding a table of contents {of sorts} and some stick-on tabbed dividers that make it super easy to find the verse you're needing, thus allowing you to capture every teachable moment. To learn how to make your own Child Training Bible, click HERE {the link takes you to the website where the inventors of this idea provide a handy video tutorial}.

For someone who loves to organize/file/number/color-code, this system is a dream come true. You can go HERE to get the full run-down on how to create your own Scripture Memory System, but the condensed version is that you'll recite verses based on the day of the week and date of the month. I haven't used this system yet, but I'm definitely about to start!
Now, I want to know:
How do you teach your children about the Bible and your faith?
Please share any tips or resources you may have in the comments below.
Blessings,
